Do the rights thing
On Sunday the choir at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens sang a song that has this refrain:
“When we heal the Earth we heal ourselves/When we heal ourselves we heal the Earth.”
Something similar can be said about our Constitutional rights: When we protect the rights of the accused, even the rights of the convicted, we protect our own.
This is not the benevolent thing to do, not the generous or the “politically correct.” It’s plain, unadulterated self-interest.
Please. Stand up for your rights. Stand up for everyone’s.
And remember: ICE is a police force, not a judge or a jury.
