I couldn't agree more with this thoughtful, nicely written essay. I didn't publish my first book until I was 71 , largely because I had this silly notion that I shouldn't bother if I couldn't write (fill in your favorite classic). Now I've published two and have a third in the works. To your excellent advice I would just add: Don't beat yourself up for what you didn't do sooner. The only time that matters is now.
