I still haven't learned much about Pippi Longstocking, a towering literary figure on par with Virginia Wolff and Toni Morrison, but wow, what an ongoing education these comments are for an old newspaper journalist. A lot of people have gotten really wimpy since I was a young fellah. I am a devout progressive, but some of this is making me understand the right-wingers' peeve.
