Many excellent points in this analysis. I, too, believe we're a lot less divided that we convince ourselves we are. Neighbors of mine have signs in their yards supporting both Democrats, regular Republicans and Trump-supported whatevers, but we just had a group potluck and everybody got along. We went to the yard of a neighbor who has COVID and sang to her. The thing that does worry me is that non-centerist 10 percent, the far Right in particular, because they own so many guns.
