The American shopping mall is quietly going extinct
Not that many years ago, malls like Georgia Square in Athens were referred to as “the new town squares.” Now they’re more like ghost towns.
And what a terrible irony that shuttered “anchor” stories like Sears and JC Penney began life doing the bulk of their retailing business by mail order.
