I’m pretty sure the first song about something edible that I ever heard was “Yes, We Have No Bananas,” which dates back to 1923 and has been recorded dozens of times. I heard it via an old 78 rpm recording by Spike Jones and His City Slickers or saw Spike’s band on some TV variety show.

I’ve heard quite a few more food songs since then, thus today’s new Pop Stand list. Please add more in the comments section if you can. And don’t forget: We used to refer to records as platters.
