A felonious philistine has no business commandeering one of our most illustrious cultural institutions. It’s not like Kennedy Center mounted a production of “Death of a Snake Oil Salesman”
Irony almost always underlies Donald Trump’s impetuous decisions. In the case of his firing board members of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and making himself the new chairman, it’s that the same guy who wobbles to the Village People’s “YMCA” at his MAGA rallies is supposedly appalled that the center played host to a drag show.
“Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth,” the President wrote on Truth Social (more irony). “THIS WILL STOP!”
“At my direction,” he further wrote, “we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.
“We will soon announce a new board, with an amazing Chairman, DONALD J. TRUMP!”
He also posted an AI-generated image of himself conducting an orchestra.
If Trump attended a performance at Kennedy Center, his ego would leave only standing room in the hall.
