Your idea of a new country with non-contiguous states -- New York and California!-- struck me as at first as unworkable, but then I went, "Well, if Staford and SMU can be in the ACC and Oregon in the Big 10, maybe not." I do like your idea. I even proposed something similar during Trump 1.0. But if you really think about it, secession would make all the post-USA fragments weaker and more vulnerable in the larger world. And what really worries me is that Trump, whatever wild-hair or actively divisive shit he pulls, is going to make us weaker. God damn him.
